Calolea Extra Virgin Olive Oil Review

I received this product to try for free in exchange for an honest, unbiased product review. All opinions are truly my own.

Calolea Extra Virgin Olive Oil is simply delicious. Very high quality, very pure tasting, and fresh. I got to try the California Habanero Olive Oil as well as several samples including the original extra virgin olive oil, the crushed orange, and the strawberry infused. I can't wait to try some of the other flavors too. Especially the Garlic olive oil. Wow, that sounds fantastic.

So I used the Habanero olive oil first. It is spicy, so I only used it sparingly. It is perfect for a little extra flare when you sautee veggies. I used it for onions, green and red peppers, and grilled chicken to make some nice fajitas. It gave it just the right amount of spice and flavor. I am sure it would be excellent with other grilled meats or veggies as well as a nice sauce starter.

At first, I wasn't sure how to use the strawberry infused or crushed orange olive oils. I decided to try and make some sweet and tangy style salad dressing with those. Perfect for fruit or traditional salads. Throw in some nice nuts and voila it's a hit. I am sure there are many other dishes that can be made with the wonderful and unique flavor varieties by Calolea. I am no expert chef, but I was able to explore some awesome options and create great dishes. These are fantastic. I am truly impressed with the individuality and excitement these can bring to the table. Very original, very different, and an excellent addition to any kitchen. I highly recommend them.

Michael Keller, the founder and owner of Calolea is one of California’s early harvest pioneers.  Through experimentation Michael discovered how special it can be to experience the flavors of the early harvest olive oil. While visiting the orchard I had the pleasure of tasting some of the Tuscan Olio Nuovo. The aromas and flavors of the oil truly embodied the essence of the orchard.  The experience of tasting something so alive and fresh enabled me to connect to the land at that moment.  It is clear that Michael values quality over quantity as he strives to present his product to its fullest potential. That being said he does see opportunities for the later harvest olives as well. The later harvest olives yield a greater quantity of oil that is milder in flavor which invites the infusion of fresh ingredients such as Meyer Lemon, Blood Orange, Garlic and Habanero
